On this 5th day of Women’s History Month I’d like to acknowledge and highlight the incredible work my fellow Queens representative, Aleeia Abraham, is doing.

Aleeia Abraham is a Social Organizer committed to elevating Black people and businesses in Queens, New York. Born and raised in Queens, Aleeia is best known for being the founder of the BlaQue Resource Network: a community collective of over 19,000 people dedicated to organizing Black neighborhoods in Queens. For her outstanding service and contributions, Aleeia has been honored by New York State Senator Leroy Comrie and New York City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer. In 2020, Queens Borough President Sharon Lee proclaimed August 10th as BlaQue Resource Network day in Queens. Most recently, Aleeia was named one of the 100 most influential people in Queens by City & State magazine.

When we talk about addressing the ills of our community and building a movement that pushes society forward, we must understand that it takes collective work and responsibility. It takes leadership that galvanizes the people and helps everyone realize they are a leader in their own right. That’s what Aleeia does. She is a leader amongst leaders. Since founding the BlaQue Resource Network in 2020, by simply pooling together resources for Black people in Queens, Aleeia and her team have had an incredible impact not only on people and businesses in Queens, but on the economy and overall quality of life here in New York City.

With Aleeia leading the way, the BlaQue Resource Network continues to make headlines and receive high praise from local elected officials.

On her facebook page, Aleeia is seen regularly going LIVE in support, and sometimes on location of, Black businesses in Queens. She is also known to recruit volunteers for various support missions for businesses and families in Queens. She is clever, humorous and an overall delight to know.

We take this time to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions that Aleeia Abraham has made to society and to the lives of Black people specifically.
